Academic & Career Planning

What is Academic & Career Planning (ACP)?

Academic and Career Planning (ACP) is an ongoing process that helps students cultivate their visions for post-secondary success, through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills. ACP is intended to equip students and their families with tools necessary to make informed choices about postsecondary education and training as it leads to careers.

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has an overall vision for every student to graduate high school and be college and career ready. This means students should be:
  • Competent both socially and emotionally
  • Strong critical thinkers able to collaborate and solve real-world problems
  • Able to persevere when things aren't going quite their way

Engaging in your child's ACP

We partner with Xello to support student's future planning.

Xello is a platform we use at Turner for students in 6th-12th grade to explore their academic and career interests.

Students will complete Interests, Skills, and Values inventories that will be used to identify career clusters and potential career pathways of interest.  Students will have the opportunity to explore careers of interest and learn of potential course sequences to help them with their post-secondary goals.
